In late 2007, Dodge stepped up the Ram pick-up with several changes including a major drive line step up including an engine change to 6.7L and a whole new generation 68RFE transmission. The increase in horse power and torque mainly came from changes in the injectors and CP3 pump along with programming but a huge improvement in emission controls can be contributed to the variable control turbocharger.
